Nathan Sandberg
“Techniques in Vitrigraph”
Taking a thoughtful approach to using the Vitrigraph kiln we can create cane and murrini that rival those created in a hot shop.Capitalizing on the ways glass can be arranged in and flows from a crucible, students in this innovative workshop will learn to create reproducible decorative canes and intricate murrini using the Vitrigraph Kiln.
These elements can then, immediately, be used in other kiln-glass projects. Students will be handling and manipulating hot, molten glass. No prerequisites.
August 8, 9, 10: 9a – 5p
Must attend all four Sessions!
Nathan Sandberg is an artist and educator living and working in Porltand, Oregon. His primary material is glass although his installations commonly make use of other materials like wood, metal and concrete. Aside from relentlessly producing artwork he has made a name for himself as one of the top kiln-glass educators teaching today. When he can’t be found in his studio where he focuses on kilncast glass he can be found presenting fresh, innovative curriculum at a wide range of studios, schools and art centers around the globe.
